Art and real estate: The new relationship that’s selling big

When envisioning the interiors for the NoMad condos at 212 Fifth Avenue, developer Madison Equities insisted that each home would have extraordinary wall space for residents to display significant artworks. Now, with the building complete, the developer has invited New York City’s Westwood Gallery to stage a special show in The Crown, the triplex penthouse sitting atop the restored 1912 neo-Gothic tower beside Madison Square Park. The exhibit, which features artwork by Cy Twombly, Andy Warhol, and Robert Rauschenberg, draws attention to the home’s capacity to house and display a large quantity of art; the penthouse even has a space on one of its private terraces large enough for several sizable sculptures.
