When conceiving the renovation of the 1912 early skyscraper at 212 Fifth Avenue, developer Madison Equities decided to add two floors to create an entirely new, and unique, triplex penthouse in the burgeoning NoMad neighborhood. Perched atop this collection of Madison Square Park condos, this penthouse, fittingly dubbed “The Crown,” features 5,000 square feet of private outdoor space spread across two levels, including a rooftop observatory. Inside, design firm Pembrooke & Ives preserved details from the building’s past (it was built as a manufacturing warehouse), like industrial windows, while updating the rest of the interior to create an expansive living space perfect for displaying an art collection, entertaining guests, or simply enjoying the spectacular views of Manhattan icons, including the nearby Flatiron Building.
